Ref 1044.- Watercolor // Watercolor & modeling paste over Stardream Mars (red) color paper
Through out this entrance I´ll be experimenting different approaches to paint with dark paper colors regarding this type of paper, so probably I´ll be experimenting and failing within same painting, so there won´t be specific commentaries just step photographs
This is my first result with red dark color paper
"A Dancer´s home is on the Stage"
And these are main steps to get it;
1.- pencil reference main lines
2.- Checking and reinforcing main lines with watercolor
3.-Adding modeling paste in all places I wanted light (with spatula) in a loose way
4.- Remove modeling paste as soon as posible before become dry
(note didn´t work at all because there are many details like the fingers in her hands, so I took away a lot of modeling paste and added again with a fine brush and then use again the small spatula to flat it again against the paper (because I´m looking for a pale color above the dark color paper so I´ll be able to paint and detail later on).
5.- Therefore the fine brush worker better to add modeling paste in small details
I worked then, with more modeling paste but now adding color to it, to reinforce for instance the red and the model skin basically, once added I need to work with the spatula to keep flat against the paper
6.-This is how it looks once completed
7.-Once completely dry I start to watercoloring , now is quite easy to do it, base on the underpainting
8.- progressing
9.- Final touches improving the contrast and adding additional modeling paste to créate a 3D texture in particular places
